Greenspiration Home Announces American Made Home Décor Pick-of-the-Week Campaign

Beginning September 1, the online green building magazine will highlight one extraordinary piece of American made furniture or home décor item each week through December.  From sofas to lighting, Greenspiration Home will be sharing its “Pick-of-the-Week” via 3BLMedia, Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin.  

Promoting "American Made" Is a Greenspiration Home Founding Value

The weekly highlight is part of Greenspiration Home’s initiative to educate homeowners about domestically sourced home décor options.  According to publisher, Trish Holder, this is among the founding values of Greenspiration Home, a former green showcase home, now turned online magazine. 

In Spring 2009 the original Greenspiration Home opened its doors to the public for 4 consecutive weekends, showcasing everything from geothermal technology to sustainable rugs.  Furnished and staged to perfection, the home featured a host of U.S. made décor items, most of which were manufactured no more than 150 miles away from its Greensboro, NC location.  Stanley Furniture, Karastan rugs, and Sunbrella fabrics were among the many products featured in the LEED registered home.

“Finding domestically made furnishings--even in North Carolina--wasn’t easy,” said Holder.  “But it was really important to us to make that a part of our initiative.”

It’s still important to Holder, who has spent the last several month compiling information about home furnishing companies that still make most or all of their products in the US. 

“We want to reward these companies and help them beat the odds they face against cheap imports by spreading the word about their products.  We’ve found companies that not only create wonderfully unique furnishings in the U.S., but have admirable sustainability stories as well.”

The Pick-of-the-Week will be selected by the Greenspiration staff and posted through online media each Thursday.  Companies will be notified of their product’s selection and will have the opportunity to be interviewed for the feature.   The stories will be posted via 3BLMedia and other social media networks where interest in localism and sustainability is high.
