Our business is to help people across the world live longer, healthier, more active lives. Our business is global, our company is global, and so is our role as a good corporate citizen. That’s why today we announced a new global giving program for our employees worldwide.

For the first time, Lilly employees across the world can contribute to a wide variety of global projects that are personally meaningful—and have those donations matched dollar-for-dollar by the Lilly Foundation. Donations that help to improve health, address hunger, promote education, and foster a healthier environment—the four main planks of our corporate responsibility efforts.

By donating to—and receiving the match for—global projects that matter most to them, Lilly employees will help decide how Lilly directs a portion of its charitable giving through the Lilly Foundation. 

To get employees started, the Lilly Foundation is giving each eligible Lilly employee the opportunity to direct a $50 credit toward a project of their choice through Lilly Global Giving.

Pretty cool. When I learned about this, my first thought was of the kids I had the opportunity to teach when I was in India serving as a Lilly Ambassador. My first giving decision will be easy: a project focused on children in India.
