Laura Asiala to Address Global Engagement in TEDx Talk at Alma College
WASHINGTON, D.C., January 22, 2015 /3BL Media/ — Laura Asiala, Vice President of Public Affairs at PYXERA Global, will share her experience leveraging the power of business to help address some the world’s biggest problems at the TEDx Alma College event Saturday, January 24.
In celebration of PYXERA Global’s 25 years of global engagement, Ms. Asiala, an Alma College alumna, will provide the audience with insights into what PYXERA Global and she have learned while driving innovative partnerships among the private, public, and social sectors over the years.
“By continuing to share how businesses can actually create and drive sustainable, shared value among stakeholders, we can better serve the people of this world through normal, everyday business,” Asiala said.
Ms. Asiala will share how private sector involvement in immersive global pro bono programs—which place highly skilled, experienced professionals in underserved markets as a means to drive entrepreneurship and impact in the local community—is the key to creating a more sustainable, solutions-driven society.
Ms. Asiala will also provide the audience with major, real-world lessons PYXERA Global has gained while designing and implementing these programs in which the private sector can apply to their own approach of creating shared, meaningful impact around the world—known as purposeful global engagement.
Ms. Asiala’s thirty-year career in international business, along with her current role at PYXERA Global, allows her to facilitate the development of sustainable business and corporate social responsibility through holistic strategies.
Prior to joining PYXERA Global, she was the Director of Corporate Citizenship at the Dow Corning Corporation where she led the development of the Citizen Service Corps and other citizenship strategies, including the company’s public-private partnerships.
