LA Kings Celebrate Pride Night
AEG’s LA Kings welcomed LGBTQ fans, friends and allies to STAPLES Center on March 1 for the team’s annual Pride Night.
Throughout the night Kings players, staff, fans and partners showed their support for the LGBT community and reiterated both AEG and the team’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Prior to the game, Kings players warmed up in LA Kings Rainbow Jerseys and used rainbow wrapped sticks, which were later auctioned through the Kings Care Foundation mobile auction. LGBTQ advocates and actors from the award-winning show “Modern Family,” Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who identifies as gay, and Eric Stonestreet, an LGBT ally, performed the ceremonial puck drop.
Meanwhile organizations including You Can Play, The Trevor Project participated in the evening through concourse booth activations in addition to the LA Blades, the first openly Gay and Lesbian ice hockey team, skating session on the ice.
Coinciding with the LA Kings Pride Night, AEG hosted a mixer for the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and DTLA Mixer at STAPLES Center’s Hyde Lounge for guests to network and enjoy the game. Both the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and DTLA Mixer advocate and provide resources for LGBTQ business owners.
