LA Galaxy Foundation Welcomes More Than 350 Elementary School Students From Greater Los Angeles Area to Dignity Health Sports Park for “Protect the Pitch” Field Trips in 2019
LA Galaxy sustainability initiative, Protect the Pitch, supports environmental projects and inspires sustainable communities in addition to reducing team’s environmental impact
In 2019, AEG’s LA Galaxy Foundation welcomed more than 350 students from elementary schools in the greater Los Angeles area to Dignity Health Sports Park for a series of Protect the Pitch fieldtrips, in conjunction with the club’s sustainability initiative to reduce the team’s environmental impact as well as inspire sustainable communities.
During each field trip, students were given a tour of Dignity Health Sports Park that included the press box, main soccer pitch and ended in the Galaxy Garden, which supplies the stadium with fresh produce. Once in the garden, students met with various LA Galaxy staff for a tour as well as sharing gardening tips before meeting with a Garden School Foundation instructor for a cooking class.
Launched by the LA Galaxy in 2016, Protect the Pitch focuses on reducing the environmental impact of LA Galaxy games and practices at Dignity Health Sports Park, supporting environmental projects in the community, and inspiring fans to help create healthier, more sustainable communities.
