Kimberly-Clark Raises $6.5 Million for United Way during 2015 Campaign
Ranked Among Top Corporate Contributors Nationally
In its annual United Way campaign last fall, Kimberly-Clark and its U.S.-based employees raised $6.5 million through pledges and fundraising events for their local United Way organizations, maintaining the company’s annual per capita contribution to the organization of almost $1,000.
The results, broken down:
- $2.75 million in employee gifts and pledges;
- $2.75 million in dollar-for-dollar match from Kimberly-Clark;
- $1 million in additional funds from special events like auctions, lunch sales, bake sales, golf tournaments and chili cook-offs.
In addition to financial contributions, volunteerism is a large part of Kimberly-Clark’s campaigns and year-round support. Each local campaign is led by employee volunteers, and hundreds across the U.S. get engaged in their communities to make a difference for United Way agencies, like the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
“When employees and companies give back to their community, it creates a win-win-win situation,” says Tom Falk, Chairman and CEO. “The employees benefit by helping others, the companies benefit from more engaged employees and the communities benefit by the resources and volunteer efforts applied to areas of need. The United Way is an efficient way for companies to make these connections happen and serve so many people so well.”
With more than 2.9 million volunteers, 10.3 million donors worldwide, and more than $5 billion raised every year, United Way is the world’s largest privately-funded nonprofit. It is present in nearly 1,800 communities across 40 countries and territories to create community solutions that improve lives in the areas of education, income and health.
Kimberly-Clark has been a strong supporter of United Way for more than 60 years. In the last decade alone, Kimberly-Clark and its employees have contributed almost $63 million to improve lives and build stronger communities.
