Attention parents, teachers and folks interested in education and the need to stimulate students’ interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics): The Verizon Foundation (@VerizonGiving) is hosting a Twitter chat Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
We will use #VZAppChallenge for the Twitter chat, so please include it in any tweets you may have with questions, comments or responses.
During this one-hour chat, we will discuss mobile learning, what it means and how it can be turned into an effective educational tool. We will also share mobile apps that can give youths an edge and help them better understand challenging subjects.
Additionally, we will discuss the third annual Verizon Innovative App Challenge, a national contest that encourages middle and high school students to create a concept for an app that will solve a community problem. This popular competition, which was launched to spur student interest in STEM studies, gives teams of students the chance to win tablets, cash grants of up to $20,000 for their school. The eight national winning teams will learn coding skills to bring their apps to life. Entries are being accepted through Nov. 24.
Our partners from the Technology Student Association (@NationalTSA) and MIT Media Lab (@MediaLab), as well as others, will join the discussion and share insights.
Hope to see you tomorrow evening! #VZAppChallenge
