IWBI Recognizes Outstanding Leaders in Advancing Health and Wellness in Buildings, Communities and Organizations Across the Globe

Today more than ever, our shared spaces are playing a critical role protecting the health and well-being of people. In response to the increased awareness and focus on our buildings, communities and organizations, many members of the IWBI community have gone above and beyond, doubling down on our efforts to provide actionable and evidence-based solutions to support and enhance public health. In recognition of these outstanding leaders, IWBI has awarded exemplary WELL Faculty members, WELL APs and Advisors for their influential roles in advancing WELL around the globe.

There are now 234 WELL Faculty members and over 7,100 WELL APs across the globe, with over 7,500 more on their journey. Over the years, WELL Faculty and WELL APs have worked hand in hand with companies and clients who have chosen to adopt IWBI’s WELL Building Standard or WELL Health-Safety Rating programs, now spanning over 1.5 billion square feet across 65 countries. These numbers demonstrate what we’ve known all along: that our community is driving this movement forward and bringing health and wellness to more people in more places than we could ever do alone.

“At IWBI, our movement is powered by those who are committed to better design, better policies and better spaces for people,” said IWBI president and CEO Rachel Hodgdon. “Through continuous advocacy, engagement and initiative, these award recipients have played an influential role in the progress we make each day.”

IWBI community award recipients have each helped propel the WELL movement forward. They have gone above and beyond by extending seats at the table to diverse stakeholders, seeking new and innovative solutions for projects and fostering engagement from the people inside of our buildings and communities. It is this passion, dedication and commitment that IWBI acknowledges, and we thank them for being part of our journey.

IWBI would also like to recognize one unique individual, whose demonstrated commitment to improving the health and well-being of people proved truly exceptional. The WELL AP of the Year, Melinda Mandla, has been working with government clients to ensure that the health and wellbeing interventions of WELL are available to the public sector, was an active member of the COVID-19 Taskforce, has provided extensive feedback prior to WELL v2's graduation and the launch of WELL and Greenstar crosswalks, worked on the first two WELL Portfolio Scores anywhere in the world, and was fundamental to the advocacy of domestic violence as a workplace and public health issue. It is for all of these reasons that IWBI congratulates Melinda Mandla as 2020’s WELL AP of the Year.
