March 6, 2013 /3BL Media/ - Think investments should make money and make the world a better place? Members of Investors' Circle do more than ever. "Smart with Heart" is how Bonny Moellenbrock, IC's Executive Director, describes their active network. "It's not just about the dollars. It's about the sense of meaning you share with the entrepreneurs and fellow investors," says Tom Balderston, Managing Director, Sustain VC and IC Member.

Dominic Kulik, Founder and CEO, Natural Systems Utilities, values IC both as an investor and as successful entrepreneur. "When I needed to align my values and raise capital, I did it with Investors' Circle. When I needed a place to learn to invest for high impact as well as high growth, I did it with Investors' Circle," says Dominic, now an IC Advisory Board member.

These are the types of investors one can expect to network with at the upcoming Investors' Circle Spring 2013 Venture Fair & Forum - scheduled for May 8-9 in San Francisco.  Selected from over 200 applicants, 15 positive-impact, rapidly scaling companies will pitch and over 30 will showcase.  All finalists will have gone through the GIIRS (Global Impact Investment Rating System) process. Adam Lowry, the co-founder, Chief Greenskeeper and head of international business at method is set to keynote the evening networking reception.

The Power of Angel Investing Workshop has been customized for the IC conference with an emphasis on impact and provides the fundamentals of how to execute early stage investment deals - the key to increasing investment returns, growing successful companies and creating jobs.

The Forum Day includes a new “Speed Pitch” and will offer prizes and attendees an opportunity to vote for the favorites through an online mobile platform created by Socratic Technologies.  Breakout sessions will dig into technologies, portfolio activation, early-stage innovations and research in action – addressing current impact issues faced by entrepreneurs, investors, academics and policy makers.

The IC network invested over $10 million into for-profit social and environmental enterprises in 2012 – up 400% from the year prior.   Significant momentum to be sure, but historically 25% of presenting enterprises successfully gain investment at IC Venture Fairs – much higher than an industry average that hovers between 7-10%.  One of the reasons for this is attributed to due diligence meetings between investors and entrepreneurs that start at the conference. “It really gets the ball rolling,” says Justin Desrosiers, Director of Strategy & Operations for Investors’ Circle. “We’re aiming to kick that $10 million up another notch in 2013. This is innovative deal flow not to be missed.”
