Inventory for Good: Timberland Sample Sales Benefit Local Community
Periodically, Timberland sells sample products to employees to help clear inventory from the past season. While any leftover product is always donated to a good cause, the sales provide double the benefit: product used, and a way to raise funds for non-profit organizations.
One-hundred percent of proceeds from each sample sale go to the non-profit organization selected, which in turn provides volunteers to help set up and staff the sale. The past few sales have raised more than $20,000 each, and the most recent sample sale was an incredible success, with total revenue of $41,560 benefitting Easter Seals in New Hampshire.
Proceeds from the Timberland sample sale supported a much-needed renovation at Easter Seals NH’s Zachary Road Intensive Residential Treatment Facility in Manchester. This program provides 24-hour residential and educational treatment to 100 boys and girls ages 8 to 21 with disabilities or special needs. Most students are from low-to- moderate-income families and many have been involved with the Division of Children, Youth and Families due to abuse and neglect. The Zachary Road renovation is greatly needed to improve the therapeutic home quality, safety, and family friendliness of this residential building.
The partnership with Easter Seals was an ideal fit for Timberland since the renovations included a goal to improve the energy efficiency of the facility, which connects with Timberland's own commitment to reduce its environmental footprint. The sale also provided employees with the opportunity to help complete renovations that would have a daily impact on the residents and staff in the Easter Seals building. Sample sales like the one hosted on November 19th are a win-win for Timberland and its partners, allowing Timberland to reduce inventory while helping a local community organization achieve its goals and continue to carry out its mission.
