North Carolina’s largest community college needed programs to address aging infrastructure systems, reduce energy consumption, and support long-term sustainability goals. A fixture in the Charlotte area for nearly 50 years, Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) serves 70K students across six campuses and many online programs.

CPCC’s strong commitment to sustainability is evident in curriculum offerings and the new Center for Sustainability. In congruence with their educational mission and spurred by a state mandate for colleges and universities to reduce energy usage by 20% compared to 2006 rates, CPCC managers looked to transform their facilities.
