Ingersoll Rand Leader Joins Panel Discussion on Industrial Energy Efficiency at 2014 EE Global Forum
Davidson, NC, May 20, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Manlio Valdés, president, Compressed Air Systems and Services, Ingersoll Rand, a world leader in creating comfortable, sustainable and efficient environments, will join thought leaders and policy drivers for an executive dialogue session at the 2014 Energy Efficiency Global Forum (EE Global), May 20-21, 2014 in Washington, D.C.
Since its inception in 2007, EE Global has become the world's premier forum dedicated to energy efficiency. This year, hundreds of leaders and delegates will partake in a comprehensive agenda highlighting solutions for addressing issues across four main areas: Government Leadership, Market Transformation, the Built Environment, and Investment & Financing. Delegates will interact with senior energy officials, thought leaders, and experts from across the energy spectrum and the globe in an intimate, discussion-based environment. Today, the agenda kicks off with the official launch of the Alliance’s Energy 2030 On the Road campaign, which Ingersoll Rand endorses.

Manlio Valdés will join leaders from the U.S. Department of Energy, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, the Institute for Industrial Productivity, Edison Electric Institute and the National Association for Manufacturers for a panel discussion on the major policy barriers impeding industrial energy efficiency and how to remove them. Valdés will discuss compressed air system optimization impacts on industrial energy efficiency and the best practices experienced by Ingersoll Rand as a leader in energy efficiency.
“We will make strides in energy efficiency when we focus on system-level efficiency in the industrial environment. As manufacturers, we must educate and provide reliable systems and services that can help our customers proactively increase energy efficiency. Our efforts coupled with customer engagement will help us reach the Energy 2030 goal,” said Valdés.

Panel Description: Representatives from governments, NGOs, and top businesses from around the world will discuss their efforts and technologies to advance energy efficiency as part of a dialogue focused on the changes needed to accelerate energy productivity. Leaders will also discuss progress to advance The Alliance Commission’s Energy 2030 plan, which calls for a doubling of U.S. energy productivity by 2030, a goal embraced by President Obama in his State of the Union address and backed with $200 million in his budget proposal to Congress for the “Race to the Top” initiative called for in Energy 2030. Ingersoll Rand is an endorsing company of the 2030 initiative.

About the Speaker
Manlio Valdés is president of the Compressed Air Systems and Services Strategic Business Unit (SBU) for Ingersoll Rand. In this role, Manlio and his team focus on accelerating innovation, increasing customer intimacy, developing new channels to market, and identifying growth while continuing to deliver operational excellence and engage employees.
Valdés began his career with Ingersoll Rand in 1988 as a product specialist in Air Solutions, and over the subsequent years held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility and key leadership roles. He has held assignments in the Venezuela, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Belgium as well as the United States. Within Air Solutions, he served as the director of Latin America operations, business unit manager for the European-Served Area (ESA) aftermarket, and as president of the ESA region and global business. In 2007, Valdés was named vice president of global product management for the Industrial Technologies sector, where he established and drove innovation processes and managed the product growth strategy. Most recently, Manlio was the president of the Europe, Middle East, India and Africa region for Ingersoll Rand’s Climate Solutions sector, where he led the Trane Commercial HVAC and Thermo King businesses within the region. Manlio holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Duke University and an MBA from Florida International University. He currently serves on Duke’s Pratt School of Engineering Board of Visitors.
