HSBC Water Program to Engage 9,000 Students in 11 Countries

According to the World Water Development Report 2014, an estimated 768 million people worldwide remain without access to an improved source of water. The number of people whose right to water is not satisfied is as high as 3.5 billion. In the wake of depleting drinking water resources globally, it has become critically important to raise awareness and implement efficient water resource management projects to serve a growing world population.
HSBC has launched a Water Explorer Program with a funding of $4.3 million in collaboration with the leading environmental nonprofit Global Action Plan. The program is a fun, inspiring and educational online initiative that will engage schools in 11 countries in understanding how water impacts human life, and take practical action to conserve water in school communities.
