A strong sustainability management framework provides companies with the foundation needed to drive positive, scalable impact in the real world. And that is precisely the type of institutional capacity that is assessed and reflected in scoring data.
Recognizing that impact and score performance go hand-in-hand, we closely monitor the total scope of score improvement across our network. We call this metric “improvement magnitude.”
Improvement magnitude is calculated by multiplying the number of reassessed companies in a given time period by the average score improvement in those scorecards during the same time period. As illustrated in the below graph, this figure has nearly tripled since 2016, with a rapid increase starting in mid-2020.

We work with customers to accelerate this trend along its key dimensions such as: 1)increasing the number of rated companies being regularly reassessed - for example through enhancing procurement policies and/or incentives for rated companies to improve their score; and 2) supporting their improvement - for example with enhancements to the Corrective Action Plan feature, and launching the EcoVadis Academy and Carbon Action Module. By working together, we can rapidly increase the capacity of the network to generate positive impact for the planet and society.
