Health & Well-Being Takes Center Stage at 2022 Smart City Expo in Miami
MIAMI, September 14, 2022 /3BL Media/ - Miami kicks off the 2-day Smart City Expo today and tomorrow (Sept. 14-15). As mayors and municipal leaders across the country gather to showcase their own innovations and exchange experiences in their race to build smarter and more resilient communities, a runner-up theme of health and well-being occupies city planners’ attention.
Highlights of the health and well-being track during the two days are both open to the press.
At 11 am on September 15, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez conducts a celebration at Miami City Hall as he acknowledges the city’s recent achievement as the first city in the nation to achieve the WELL Health-Safety Rating across a municipal building portfolio.
Joining Mayor Suarez is Paul Scialla, founder of the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) which awarded the City of Miami with the WELL Health-Safety seal in May 2022 for prioritizing health and safety procedures in 10 municipal buildings and public parks. IWBI is the leading authority for transforming health and well-being with its people-first approach to buildings, organizations and communities.
The WELL Health-Safety Rating is an evidence-based, third-party verified rating for all new and existing building and space types, advancing human health and well-being through science-backed policies and procedures. Launched in 2020, the WELL Health-Safety Rating was designed to support organizations to cope with health and safety challenges from COVID-19 and empower more resilient organizations into the future. The rating has been adopted in more than 100 countries in 3.5 billion square feet of spaces.
Join Mayor Suarez as he acknowledges city officials who worked hard to earn the rating and shares how the rating will benefit millions of municipal works and civilians who work in or visit the buildings and public parks.
The celebration will close in a seal mounting ceremony in the City Hall building.
At 3:15 pm on September 15, CEO of National League of Cities Clarence Anthony hosts a panel discussion with Tampa Mayor Jane Castor, David Bevirt, EVP Corporate Leasing and Strategy, Strategic Property Partners and Paul Scialla, Founder of International WELL Building Institute to talk about how health and well-being strategies will contribute to more livable and workable cities in the future and support cities to add competitive edge and win the talent war.
The panel discussion takes place on center stage at the Smart City Expo at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Hall B, 1901 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach.
