Hazelwood Veteran Receives Free Home Repairs Thanks to Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh and BNY Mellon
Dozens of BNY Mellon employees support 25th veteran helped by Season of Service
PITTSBURGH, PA., October 23, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh (RTP) and volunteers from BNY Mellon will be providing free critical home repairs to Ricardo Butler, a Hazelwood resident and U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
Mr. Butler is the 25th veteran homeowner served by Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh as part of its 2014 Season of Service initiative.
Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh will be joined by more than 60 BNY Mellon volunteers for the project. Repairs will include electrical safety upgrades, plumbing repairs, and accessibility upgrades, as well as safety measures such as the installation of new smoke alarms, carbon dioxide detectors and door locks.
Mr. Butler. a life-long Hazelwood resident, was disabled during an automobile accident on his way home from work. Previously, Mr. Butler worked as a welder, equipment operator and carpenter in the steel industry.

In addition to the repairs needed for Mr. Butler’s home, the volunteers will also clean up two vacant lots in the community.
