Halfaker, an SAIC Company, Announces Joint Venture With Service-Disabled, Veteran-Owned Small Business
Reston, Va., August 31, 2021 /3BL Media/ – Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC) announced that Halfaker and Associates, LLC, an SAIC company, and Cognitive Medical Systems have acquired CivitasDX, a certified service-disabled, veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB) joint venture to optimize digital experiences between citizens and their governments.
Halfaker, a technology solutions provider within the federal government’s health, intelligence, defense, and security sectors, was recently acquired by SAIC. Cognitive is a certified SDVOSB specializing in interpreting and contextualizing key health data at the point of origin, transforming and then communicating it to providers and patients as meaningful, actionable information.
Created in 2020, CivitasDX was previously owned by Agile Six Applications and Cognitive. With this transaction, Cognitive and Halfaker will own majority and minority interests in CivitasDX, respectively. This joint venture continues Halfaker’s commitment to support Cognitive through the Small Business Administration All-Small Mentor-Protégé program, which Halfaker entered earlier this year.
“We are privileged to be in a position to support one of our small business partners through the mentor-protégé program as they continue to grow and successfully navigate the industry,” said Dawn Halfaker, vice president of health strategy, SAIC. “The joint venture further deepens our partnership and enables us to deliver tangible value for our federal clients and empower them to better serve their constituents.”
This is Halfaker’s third mentor-protégé relationship and joint venture, demonstrating the firm’s commitment to helping build the next generation of small business government contractors. The new enterprise complements Halfaker’s other joint ventures and will further the company’s ability to serve the Department of Veterans Affairs as a prime contractor on theTransformation Twenty-One Total Technology Next Generation (T4NG) contract.
"We are excited to be in a partnership with Halfaker and SAIC. We look forward to learning from their years of success and to collectively building solutions which will help to transform the digital experiences that people have with government information systems,” said Cognitive President and Cofounder Douglas W. Burke.
