Hagerty Insurance, Exelon Corp., and UnitedHealth Group Leaders Honored for Excellence in Volunteer Engagement
Businesses and leaders recognized for innovation, energy, and impact in employee volunteering at 2010 VolunteerMatch Client Summit
(3BLMedia/theCSRfeed) May 26, 2010 - VolunteerMatch has honored Hagerty Insurance, Exelon Corp. (NYSE: EXC), and UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH) for leadership in employee volunteer program management in VolunteerMatch’s annual survey of corporate volunteering in the United States.
The awards, announced each year at VolunteerMatch’s client summit, recognize outstanding achievement and impact within the nonprofit’s network of 120 leading companies and brands. This year’s honors were presented at an event sponsored by MGM MIRAGE at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas.
VolunteerMatch recognized Chicago-based Exelon Corp. for the third consecutive year as Corporate Volunteer Program of the Year. This award is presented to a company that illustrates outstanding achievement and results against VolunteerMatch benchmarks for communications, volunteer participation, overall hours tracked, and other key metrics. Exelon ranked ahead of 37 other qualifying companies with 10,000 or more employees.
Hagerty Insurance, based in Traverse City, Mich., received the 2010 award for Corporate Volunteer Program of the Year in the Small to Medium-sized Business category. The inaugural award reflects growing participation in the VolunteerMatch network by smaller companies. Working with a smaller budget and team, the insurer of collector cars and boats rated highest for social impact among a community of similar-sized businesses.
Sue Osten and Debra Krause of UnitedHealth Group, based in Minnetonka, Minn., were recognized as “Champions of the Year” for outstanding teamwork, leadership, accomplishment, dedication and spirit by individual program managers. As leaders in UnitedHealth Group’s Office of Corporate Social Responsibility, Krause and Osten organize the company’s efforts to engage employees and consumers in volunteering. In addition to company employees logging more than 123,000 volunteer hours in 2009, UnitedHealth Group launched an ambitious cause-related marketing campaign, “Do Good. Live Well.,” and co-published a survey with VolunteerMatch investigating the health benefits of volunteering.
This is the fourth year that VolunteerMatch, the Web’s most popular volunteer network, has recognized the achievements of key partners within its client community.
