H20 for Life School Partner Raises $50,000 for South Sudan Water Projects
Since 2009, Stillwater Jr. High of Minnesota has raised and donated over $50,000 for water projects in South Sudan through an H2O for Life sponsorship. Inspired by the story of the Lost Boys of Sudan (refugee boys displaced by internal conflicts in Sudan and South Sudan), teacher Sara Damon has worked with her students to host walk-a-thons, bake sales, performances and other creative fundraisers to raise the money for water projects in South Sudan and to teacher her students about social justice and the water crisis.
H20 for Life provides a service-learning opportunity for schools to raise awareness about the water crisis while taking action to provide funds for water, sanitation and hygiene education for a partner school in a developing country.
