Grupo Financiero Banorte's Environmental Performance Unveiled in 2013 Annual Report
June 23, 2014 /3BL Media/ - Grupo Financiero Banorte presented its 2013 Annual Report with the results of its economic, social and environmental performance under the G4 methodology of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and its Financial Supplement.
Regarding its environmental performance, the following stands out:
- Banorte's Social and Environmental Management System assesses the social and environmental risks of loans greater than $ 1 million US dollars. Of the cases analyzed in 2013, 66.6% were considered of low social-environmental risk, 32.8%, medium social-environmental risk and 0.6%, high social-environmental risk.
- The Equator Principles' framework was used to analyze social and environmental risks of 10 financing projects that were eligible for such scheme.
- A system to create a natural space with 1,784 m² of vegetable populated landscape (green roof) was installed on the Roberto González Barrera Call Center building located in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, with 20% of the plants coming from certified rural enterprises of indigenous women from the Mixteca Region in the State of Oaxaca.
- Grupo Financiero Banorte achieved the following reductions:
- 14.6% in energy intensity compared with the 2009 base year.
- 16% in direct emissions with respect to 2012.
- 2% in indirect emissions due to electrical energy consumption with respect to 2012.
- 15.8% in the intensity of direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions compared to the 2009 base year.
- Over 1,657 tons of paper were recycled.
- The report includes the Verification Statement for Corporate Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Inventory Report 2013 issued by the Asociación de Normalización y Certificación, A.C.
