OAKLAND, Calif., May 23, 2016 /3BL Media/ – GreenBiz Group has been named the official livestream partner for the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) Public-Private Action Summit, an all-day event on June 2 in San Francisco.

The summit is part of CEM7, the seventh annual gathering of energy ministers from the world’s largest and most forward-leaning countries working together to accelerate the global transition to clean energy. The United States hosted the first CEM meeting in Washington, D.C., in 2010. At CEM6 in Mexico in 2015, President Barack Obama announced that the United States would host CEM7; at COP21 in December, U.S. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz and California Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. announced San Francisco as the site for CEM7.

The Public-Private Action Summit on June 2 will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions and fireside chats with global clean-energy leaders, including energy ministers, corporate executives and others. The event will highlight ambitious clean-energy efforts and include new announcements supporting CEM campaigns as well as other overall domestic and global clean-energy and climate goals.

The Summit is part of a two-day event that includes the gathering of energy ministers and other high-level delegates from the 23 CEM member countries and the European Commission. Participating governments account for about 75 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions and 90 percent of global clean-energy investment. They also fund the vast majority of public research and development in clean energy technologies.

This is the first CEM since the Paris Agreement was signed at COP21 last December, giving extra significance to this year’s gathering. At the Paris climate conference in December, U.S. Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz said CEM7 would provide an opportunity for the major economies to collaborate on solutions that advance clean-energy globally and demonstrate tangible follow-up actions to COP21.

“We welcome the opportunity to share the Clean Energy Ministerial proceedings with the GreenBiz audience and the larger online community,” said Tracey Crowe, representing the Secretariat for the Clean Energy Ministerial. “We believe the Public-Private Action Summit will shine a light on how the public and private sectors are leveraging their respective strengths to accelerate a clean-energy future.”

In addition to livestreaming the proceedings of the daylong event, which will run from 8:30 am until 6:00 pm Pacific Time on June 2, GreenBiz journalists will conduct interviews with key executives and officials during the event’s two 30-minute networking breaks, exclusively for the online audience.

“We are proud to leverage the GreenBiz platform to amplify the important work being done by the companies, countries and leadership organizations that will be meeting in San Francisco,” said Joel Makower, GreenBiz Group’s Chairman and Executive Editor. “This is a critical time for both the public and private sector to build on the momentum of COP21 and begin implementation of the Paris Agreement.”
