Golf and Dreams Fulfilled: Jordan Spieth and Harrison Frazar Chip in at the Ina…
Despite some rain and soggy greens, the inaugural year of AT&T’s title sponsorship of the Byron Nelson was an overwhelming success.
In addition to the great golf, audiences both at the event and watching from home learned more about the amazing work that Momentous Institute is doing for kids in North Texas. Over the past year, our AT&T Aspire team has had the privilege of working with them to spread their expertise to students and teachers around the country. For example, AT&T and Momentous Institute recently released three free apps that bring Momentous Institute’s social emotional health strategies to the mobile platform.
Throughout the week at the AT&T Byron Nelson, students from Momentous Institute had the chance to see how the tournament works behind the ropes and interact with several golf pros first hand. Two 5th grade students at the Momentous School were onsite as “junior reporters” and blogged about their experience firsthand.
Prior to the tournament, pro golfers Jordan Spieth and Harrison Frazar led a clinic for the students and other young people in North Texas. It was fantastic to see how both Jordan and Harrison worked hard to make the event interactive and fun for the kids:
“I know what it’s like to visit the Byron as a young child and it’s exciting to watch the kids come out and be inspired in the same way that I was. I’m really happy that this tournament is making an impact in the Dallas community and beyond.” -- Jordan Spieth
“I love the Youth Clinic at this tournament. The sport needs to make golf interesting and fun for kids, and this is a great way to make that happen.” – Harrison Frazar
While the tournament is a wrap for 2015, the work at Momentous Institute to inspire and motivate students to achieve their dreams continues. Congratulations to Aussie Steven Bowditch on the clutch win. Congratulations to the tournament for staying true to Byron Nelson’s vision of a tournament that can make a difference.
