Going Back to School for the Clean and Green Economy with GoEco Certified

It’s September and the kids have all gone back to school, but they’re not the only ones. Faced with the on-going lack of new job creation adults are going back to school as well, retraining for fields like sustainability that promise badly needed jobs and long term business growth.

With the broader economy remains mired in slow growth with high unemployment expected for years to come, green jobs are a solution for both our economic and environmental challenges. It is not just a slow economy that we face, but a changing economy. While many have debated whether green jobs are really growing, the statistics are clear. Jobs and businesses related to sustainability have grown considerably, and have even greater growth ahead.    In July the Brookings Institution released the report “Sizing the Clean Economy: A National and Regional Green Jobs Assessment”, which found that the clean and green economy includes 2.7 million jobs across many industries and that newer job segments related to energy are growing at a rapid pace. The solar industry grew 67% in 2010, according to the Solar Energy Industries Association, finding the rapid pace of growth extending into 2011 as well.    GoEco Certified based in Newport Beach, California, offers practical training courses for those who want and need a new direction and are interested in sustainability for a career or business opportunity.    Through courses offered on-line, students can study either with live instructors over the internet, or with courses they can take at any time as fits their schedule. Having courses available over the internet and with flexible schedules means that just about anybody can take a positive step like this and get valuable training needed for a changing economy.   While the news is all too often focused on the problems we face, the courses with GoEco Certified are about solutions, and the practical steps involved in building a business as a Certified Eco-Consultant that delivers these solutions to homes and businesses, valuable insight that is often forgotten.    As kids go back to school, Moms seeking extra income can use this training to start their own eco-business. Working for themselves with their own schedule, from their home, they can be proud of the contribution they make, helping to create a better world for their kids.   For all of the difficulties we face, there are solutions. Sustainability is not just for the green economy, but the whole economy as more businesses realize the benefits of operating with the triple bottom line in mind of people, planet, and profit. The more people who find opportunities like this to move in a positive direction, the more that the whole economy will get moving back on track toward a bright green future for all of us.   Glenn Croston is the author of “75 Green Businesses” and the founder of Starting Up Green, helping businesses everywhere to make a difference.
