Global Pro Bono Rising in Latin America
PYXERA Global to Lead Conversations on Global Pro Bono at Inaugural Summit in Latin America with 3M, SAP, Johnson & Johnson, and Others
MEXICO CITY, March 28, 2019 /3BL Media/ – PYXERA Global is an active contributor in the design of the Pro Bono Network’s Latam Pro Bono Summit, taking place in Mexico City, Mexico on March 27 and 28. The summit will shine a spotlight on how Global Pro Bono is a powerful approach to gaining new business insights, social responsibility, and leadership development. The summit will also feature PYXERA Global’s regional leads Caro Gowland, Regional Pro Bono Manager, Argentina and Fernanda Scur, Regional Pro Bono Manager, Brazil, who will lead several sessions at the summit. The inaugural pro bono summit in Latin America will feature companies active in the Global Pro Bono space such as SAP, 3M, and Johnson & Johnson.
Gowland and Scur will speak with:
- Jana Nieto, 3M Relaciones Institucionales at 3M;
- José Caceres, Head of SAP Communications Operations in Latin America;
- Alex Fernández, Senior Manager, Employee Engagement Global Community Impact Latin America at Johnson & Johnson.
During panels on both days 3M, SAP, and Johnson & Johnson, will share how their global pro bono programs have developed, how to find strong social sector partners, and what makes them successful. Latin America is one region that has received more than 100 Global Pro Bono teams. PYXERA Global is now organizing with Pro Bono Network to enable Latin American companies to develop GPB programs of their own through the LATAM Pro Bono Summit. Program can address community and safety issues such as the Johnson & Johnson and IBM collaboration in Chile, education issues such as the SAP Corporate Champions for Education coming up in Colombia, or any strategic focus that aligns to both the community needs and business priority.
Gowland and Scur will lead a corporate workshop helping businesses design their own global pro bono programs. The session will walk through decision points needed for a successful program. Understanding global pro bono design and decision points will enable Latin American companies to begin crafting their own programs and approaches.
PYXERA Global will also lead an interactive workshop that will guide social sector organizations to host pro bono activities. This workshop will help organizations interested in receiving pro bono services understand what it means to be prepared for such an opportunity. PYXERA Global will share tools for social sector organizations to sift through symptoms of operational challenges they might be experiencing and get to the core problem. This core problem can then be turned into a Global Pro Bono project.
Since 2009, a growing set of companies large and small have invested in employee engagement and corporate citizenship through Global Pro Bono (GPB), through which teams of corporate employees use their skill sets to support strong, mission-driven organizations. Organizations around the world have received pro bono support to address systemic challenges at the local level.
Global Pro Bono Opportunity in Colombia
One way companies can experience Global Pro Bono before they have their own program is through the multi-company cohort backed by SAP, the Corporate Champions for Education. This multi-company cohort will serve as an immersive leadership development experience, engage employees in a transformational way, and allow employees to gain new insights for the business - all while building the organizational capacity of education-focused organizations in Columbia. Participants from several companies across industry sectors will form diverse teams to work on specific, deliverable-based projects, using their professional business and operational skills, during four-week assignments with non-profit organizations.
