Global Citizen Presents: A 'Recovery Plan for the World' Roundtable Conversation
International advocacy organization Global Citizen, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, and the World Health Organization last week launched Global Citizen’s Recovery Plan for the World – campaign to end COVID-19 and kickstart a global recovery.
On Tuesday, February 23, 2021, Global Citizen unveiled a five-point policy plan, year-long campaign and series of events that focus on: 1) ending COVID-19 for all; 2) ending the hunger crisis; 3) resuming learning everywhere; 4) protecting the planet; and 5) advancing equity for all.
In partnership with Declan Kelly and Teneo, the global CEO advisory firm, a coalition of many of the world's leading companies, including: Citi, Cisco, The Coca-Cola Company, Delta Air Lines, Google, Live Nation, P&G and Verizon will work together to engage the private sector to help achieve the Recovery Plan for the World's policy priorities.
Co-chairs Chuck Robbins, Chairman and CEO of Cisco; Hans Vestberg, CEO of Verizon; Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta Air Lines; James Quincey, Chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola Company; Marc Pritchard, CBO of P&G; Michael Rapino, CEO of Live Nation; and Jane Fraser, incoming CEO of Citi will lead their respective sectors to step up in-kind and value chain support, and investment for the campaign. Lorraine Twohill, CMO of Google and Mindy Grossman, CEO of WW International will also be supporting leaders of this campaign.
Global Citizen organized leaders from the business, philanthropic and nonprofit sectors during the week of the Recovery Plan for the World launch to discuss the urgency of coming together to support countries in fighting this pandemic and making sure all countries receive proper attention to end the underlying problems. These leaders addressed the responsibility of driving change and starting with having accessibility and affordability for all across the world.
