Giving Back Through 10 Years of Global Volunteer Month

At Morgan Stanley, Giving Back is an integral part of our culture. Supporting the communities in which we live and work is a priority year-round, but each year in June, the firm kicks up its volunteer efforts to strengthen the impact we can make with leading nonprofit organizations around the globe.

This marks the 10th year since the firm first designated June as its Global Volunteer Month. Since the program’s launch in 2006, Morgan Stanley employees have delivered more than 1 million hours of volunteer service through Global Volunteer Month activities. In June 2014, employees logged a high of more than 209,000 volunteer hours in 517 cities and 29 countries around the world. This June, the firm aims to surpass 250,000 volunteer hours in one month.

“Our employees are our greatest asset, and Global Volunteer Month is an opportunity for us to come together and apply our most valuable resource—our time—to support the causes that matter most in our local communities,” says Joan Steinberg, Global Head of Philanthropy at Morgan Stanley.

Morgan Stanley is proud to partner with a wide range of charities delivering on missions that are crucial to supporting underserved individuals and areas in our communities. Through these partnerships, our employees participate in volunteer projects, which include environmental clean-up and beautification, food and nutrition programs, arts or wellness events for children, and educational and professional development activities.
