Gilead Sciences Announces 100 Percent Score on Human Rights Campaign 2018 Corporate Equality Index
FOSTER CITY, Calif., November 10, 2017 /3BL Media/ — Gilead Sciences today announced that it has received a top score of 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employees. Organizations that have earned a 100 percent rating on the CEI have satisfied all criteria for that year and are recognized as a "Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality.”
“We are proud and honored to have received a top score of 100 percent and to be recognized as one of the best places to work for LGBT equality,” says Katie Watson, Executive Vice President, Human Resources. “Inclusion is one of Gilead’s core values and this achievement is demonstrative of our commitment to living our values every day. We believe a diverse workforce better drives innovation, which ultimately helps us better serve patients.”
The CEI assesses companies’ policies, benefits and practices for their LGBT workforce and their families. Gilead’s rating acknowledges the company’s commitment to progressing LGBT equality, including updating the company’s Supplier Code to ensure all contractors adhere to non-discrimination policies and establishing the LGBT Alliance, an employee resource group to support employees in advancing their careers and creating both an environment of inclusion and a community of leaders and role models. This is one of many of Gilead’s efforts to do more in diversity and inclusion to help spark innovation, accelerate employee development and make a difference inside as well as outside of Gilead.
