Free Dulles Day Festival & Plane Pull This Saturday Benefits Special Olympics Virginia

On Saturday, September 17, more than 1,200 volunteers from across the Washington D.C. Metro region, including Maryland and Virginia, will compete for bragging rights as they work to see which team can pull a 164,000+ pound Airbus airplane fastest. The 23rd annual Plane Pull is the centerpiece of Dulles Day Festival, a free community event held each year to benefit Special Olympics Virginia.

The Festival kicks off early Saturday morning with a 5K/10K Runway Run and runs all day, offering visitors the chance to check out current and vintage aircraft on display, classic cars and motorcycles, and take Airfield tours aboard the famous Dulles Mobile Lounges.

Booz Allen Hamilton Senior Vice President Corrine Kosar, who serves on the Board of Directors for Special Olympics Virginia, is proud of the firm’s involvement in the fundraiser. “It’s an honor to work with so many passionate Booz Allen employees who volunteer their time to benefit the important work of Special Olympics Virginia,” she said. This year, nearly 200 Booz Allen employees—50 event volunteers and 150 plane pullers—will come out to for Dulles Day. The firm will award two prizes, and competition is fierce for both the championship belt—awarded to the fastest pull team—and a trophy that goes to the team that raises the most money for Special Olympics Virginia.

All money raised at the event goes to support Special Olympics Virginia, which provides year-round training and athletic competition to more than 11,000 athletes of all ages.
