Fort Lauderdale Wins Again! Green City Vote Winner Will Receive A New Green Space Courtesy of JetBlue
Congratulations to Fort Lauderdale, winner of our recent Green City Vote! South Florida customers, crewmembers and community members outvoted those in San Francisco, San Juan and Washington, DC for a new green space which will be built in 2018 with a grant from JetBlue.
The Green City Vote is part of JetBlue’s One Thing That’s Green initiative which highlights our commitment to environmentalism. Since 2007, the campaign encourages customers and crewmembers to undertake at least one green initiative in their daily lives to help reduce their carbon footprint.
Other communities in our network are already benefitting from our One Thing That’s Green campaign. In March, Austin, customers, crewmembers and community members built a new greenspace at Zilker Botanical Garden. JetBlue has also worked with communities in Long Beach, CA. and Hartford, Conn. to build greenspaces in recent years.
To date nearly 3,000 JetBlue crewmembers and community volunteers have planted more than 3,500 trees and cleaned nearly three tons of trash in cities including New York, Boston, Los Angeles/Long Beach and Orlando
Now that Fort Lauderdale has been deemed the winner, JetBlue will work with the city and the local community to determine the best use of the grant and location of the greenspace, a location that will be the most beneficial to the local community. Stay tuned to find out where the green space will sprout up in Fort Lauderdale.
