Meet Freedom the eagle - a baby bald eagle (eaglet) born in North Carolina. To help raise awareness of eagle conservation, the Carolina Raptor Center, aided by a grant from the Duke Energy Foundation, put a tracker on Freedom to follow his migration pattern. When Freedom grew big enough, he took to the skies. Follow his journey across North America on illumination.
In 2016, Duke Energy provided a $400,000 grant to the Carolina Raptor Center, based in Huntersville, NC, to help build a new raptor trail featuring interactive exhibits, web-enabled learning pavilions and a technologically advanced amphitheater to enhance programming, including STEM education for children. Some of those funds were earmarked for the Bald Eagle and Environmental Conservation Program to support education programs and conservation efforts for bald eagles.
