Sign up today for the “Love Your Heart” virtual field trip, which premieres Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 1:00 pm ET – you can register here. The field trip also will be available for on-demand viewing following the premiere.
For the field trip, Abbott recently opened its Minnesota and Ohio offices to two curious high school STEM interns, who embarked on a virtual trip with scientists and doctors to:
-
Learn how our hearts are similar to a house – with rooms (chambers), doors (valves), hallways (arteries), plumbing and even electricity
-
Investigate the role that the heart plays in the circulatory system
-
Learn the importance of water and signs of dehydration
-
Understand how nutritious food choices and physical activity can help promote heart health
Special guest three-time U.S. Olympian Lolo Jones also joined the field trip to share some simple tips on how to keep your heart healthy.
The virtual field trip is part of Abbott's Future Well Kids program, which helps teach kids ages 10-13 about chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease, and inspires them to take charge of their own health by making smart choices today – to create a healthier tomorrow.
