Elsevier and the American Urological Association Launch New Journal: Urology Practice
New York, April 28, 2014 /3BL Media/ - Elsevier, world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, and the American Urological Association (AUA), a premier urological association providing invaluable support to the urology community, announce their collaboration to launch a new journal, Urology Practice.
Urology Practice will focus on clinical trends, challenges and practice applications in the four areas of Business, Health Policy, the Specialty and Patient Care. Information that can be used in everyday practice will be provided to the urology community via peer-reviewed clinical practice articles (including best practices, reviews, clinical guidelines, select clinical trials, editorials and white papers), “research letters” (brief original studies with an important clinical message), the business of the practice of urology, urology health policy issues, urology education and training, as well as content for urology care team members.
The new journal will be led by Editor, Carl A. Olsson, MD, FACS (presently Chief Medical Officer of Integrated Medical Professionals in New York and former Professor and Chairman of Urology at Boston University and Columbia University Medical Centers) and Associate Editor, J. Stephen Jones, MD, FACS, MBA (Vice President of Cleveland Clinic Regional Medical Operations and Professor and Horvitz/Miller Distinguished Chair in Urological Oncology), supported by a world-class editorial board.
When asked by Gopal H. Badlani, MD, AUA Secretary, what is the goal of Urology Practice, Dr. Olsson responded, “To serve the urological practitioner, whether in solo practice, group practice (small, large or multispecialty), hospital employee or academic positions.” Dr. Jones replied, “To meet the rapidly evolving needs of urologists, whose livelihood is increasingly more complex regardless of practice setting. Information will be timely and highly relevant to their practice and professional lives.”
“We are delighted to launch this new journal on behalf of the AUA,” commented Linda Gruner, Vice President, Health & Medical Sciences, STM Journals at Elsevier. “Our publishing collaboration with the AUA on The Journal of Urology® and now on Urology Practice offers great opportunities to provide information and innovative tools to the urological research and practice communities. We look forward to working with the Editors and the AUA on the development of this important new journal.”
The first issue of Urology Practice is now available at: www.urologypracticejournal.com and www.sciencedirect.com.
