Ecolab Recognized for Climate Change Performance and Transparency
Company named to 2013 CDP Global 500 Climate Performance and Disclosure leadership indices
ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 12, 2013 /3BL Media/ - Ecolab (ECL) has been named to the 2013 CDP Global 500 Climate Performance Leadership Index (CPLI) and CDP Global 500 Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI), two leading environmental indices announced today with release of the CDP Global 500 Climate Change Report 2013. CDP is the only global environmental disclosure system, and the report tracks how the world's largest public companies are responding to a changing climate.
The annual CDP indices highlight those companies listed on the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (Global 500) that demonstrate actions to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate the risks of climate change (CPLI) or have displayed a strong approach to the disclosure of information regarding climate change (CDLI). Ecolab was one of only 56 global companies named to the 2013 CPLI, and one of only 60 global companies named to the 2013 CDLI.
"We work to continually improve the efficiency of our internal operations while helping our customers meet their sustainability goals at more than one million locations around the world," said Douglas M. Baker, Jr., Ecolab chairman and chief executive officer. "We are honored to be recognized by CDP as a global leader for our disclosure practices and our ongoing efforts to further reduce emissions and improve our environmental footprint."
"Companies that score highly enough to be included in the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index are responding to the call for greater corporate climate accountability. They have demonstrated leading practice for the measurement of greenhouse gas emissions and energy use and transparency of their climate change strategy," said
Paul Simpson, CDP chief executive officer. "We congratulate companies in the Climate Performance Leadership Index for their pioneering efforts in transparency, measuring greenhouse gas emissions, combating climate change and growing low carbon economies at this critical time."
This is Ecolab's first appearance on both the Global 500 CPLI and Global 500 CDLI. For the past three years, Ecolab has been named to the CDP S&P 500 Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index.
