EarthX to Broadcast the SC1.5NCE NOT SILENCE Forum
DALLAS, April 21, 2021 /3BL Media/ - In celebration of Earth Day, EarthX is proud to broadcast the SC1.5NCE NOT SILENCE Forum. The event will broadcast on EarthxTV which was just launched on an OTT platform in time for Earth Day programming. Hosted by March For Science and YOUNGO (the official youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change), the international event is being organized to build support for the IPCC 1.5C Special Report which has been blocked from being formally welcomed at the past two annual United Nations Climate Change Conferences (COP24 and COP25).
"How can humanity effectively address the climate crisis if governments refuse to recognize the science and accept the state of our global emergency," asked Matt Tranchin, President of March For Science. "We are calling on nations to join this global movement and finally welcome this critically important report that will inform climate action around the world."
The SC1.5NCE NOT SILENCE Forum will feature UN Secretary-General Antionio Guterres, Ms. Patricia Espinosa (Executive Secretary, UNFCCC), Dr. Hoesung Lee (IPCC Chair), Ms. Jayathma Wickramanayake (UN Youth Envoy), members of the Secretary-General's Youth Advisory Group on Climate Change, and Prime Minister Tuilaepa Aiono Sailele Malielegaoi from the Independent State of Samoa.
"As the global community confronts the dual existential threats of the climate crisis and the coronavirus, it is imperative that the world unites behind the science and scales proven partnerships to achieve transformative progress," said Prime Minister Malielegaoi. "I encourage other countries to publicly support the IPCC 1.5C Special Report heading into COP26 and join SC1.5NCE Not SILENCE campaign so that we can collectively strengthen the resilience of the world before it is too late."
Fifteen nations have already joined the SC1.5NCE NOT SILENCE campaign and pledged their support for championing the IPCC report at COP26 in Glasgow later this year. To build momentum for the campaign, March For Science and YOUNGO are partnering with EarthX to launch SC1.5NCE NOT SILENCE Live, a new series that will elevate the voices of the world's most impactful youth climate leaders and highlight those world leaders who've committed to ambitious climate action aligned with the IPCC 1.5C Special Report.
