NEW YORK, May 10, 2019 /3BL Media/ --- Today, Delos Living LLC announced it will showcase its DARWIN™ Home Wellness Intelligence network as a part of TINY HOUSE by Fernando Mastrangelo Studio (FMS), an interactive and sensory immersive sculpture reimagining how we live. The 175-sqft installation is open to the public in Times Square in conjunction with NYCxDesign, New York City’s annual celebration of design.

Delos launched DARWIN in Australia in September 2018, and debuted in the U.S. at CES earlier this year.  DARWIN is a powerfully responsive network that passively monitors and calibrates the home environment to help support health, performance and well-being. The innovative home wellness technology comprises a sensor-monitoring platform and solutions across air filtration, water purification and restorative lighting.

FMS partnered with both Anne-Laure Pingreoun, Curator at Alter-Projects, and Steve Lastro, CTO of 6Sides, to find the right technology and experienced collaborators to create a unique immersive installation, meant to both inspire the passerby as well as designers, architects, brands and visionaries from around the world. DARWIN was selected by the team to showcase how health and well-being is a critical component of the homes of the future.

“A testament to the impact and mission behind DARWIN, we are excited to have been invited to be a part of this innovative installation right here in NYC,” said Delos CEO and Founder Paul Scialla.  “Visitors will have the chance to experience what all homes should feel like – a place that helps you feel happy and healthy.”

Fernando Mastrangelo is a Brooklyn-based contemporary artist and designer who has always been deeply inspired by nature and issues concerning climate change. “As spaces begin to be experienced more and more virtually, the boundaries of our imaginations - as architects and designers - are no longer limited to what we can physically build,” says Fernando. “That’s where TINY HOUSE comes in; a space where the future of design can be experienced in real life.”

TINY HOUSE will be open to the public in Times Square from May 10-22nd - during NYCxDesign 2019, New York City’s annual celebration of design. Visitors can experience DARWIN, along with other selected collaborators integrated in TINY HOUSE, for a limited time as part of the installation. Open between 11:00a.m. - 9:00p.m. in Times Square Pedestrian Plaza, Broadway between 45th St. and 46th St.

About Fernando Mastrangelo:

Fernando Mastrangelo is a Brooklyn-based, contemporary artist specializing in sculpture, furniture, architecture and interior design. Inspired by landscapes, people and politics, his sculptural work experiments with forms, materials and content to create a universe in which nature, textures and the human condition are layered and interconnected. Seeing his work as a “relic for our time,” Mastrangelo repurposes natural granular materials like sand, salt and silica, while often addressing ecological issues. Each piece’s form is influenced by the material used and its geographic origins.

Mastrangelo received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle in 2002 and completed his Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture in 2004 at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. After his studies, Mastrangelo worked in collaboration with Matthew Barney, before launching his own design studio, now known as FM/S. Located in Brooklyn, his studio has grown over the years to experiment with painting, sculpture, furniture, architecture and interiors, and presents a variety of mediums and collections.

His group and solo works have been exhibited in numerous art fairs and venues including Art Basel, Collective Design Fair, Sight Unseen Offsite, Salone del Mobile in Milan, Art Genève in Switzerland, the Brooklyn Museum, the Mendes Wood Gallery, the Mike Weiss Gallery, the Neuberger Museum, and the Rossana Orlandi Gallery in Milan.

With the next generation of makers in mind, Mastrangelo has recently launched a non-profit organization, In Good Company, with an annual group exhibition that honors the spirit of creativity by providing a platform for emerging artists and designers to exhibit their work without commercial or creative restraint.
