Deloitte/USOC Campus Tour - University of Virginia Students Come Face to Face with U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Athletes
University of Virginia students got a change to meet three Olympic athletes. The university was one of ten stops on a national campus tour. The theme of the event was to encourage students to “Go for the Gold,” in all aspects of life, especially their future careers.
Students got a chance to meet Olympic silver medalist swimmer Cullen Jones, two time gold medalist fencer Mariel Zagunis and bronze medalist gymnast Jonathon Horton.
Each Olympian shared their stories of failures and success in their careers.
“When we both kind of are able to see the common ground of goal setting and that we have failures, too. And to come back from that, whether it be for an Olympic gold medal or trying to make that next step, whatever the goal may be, we have common ground,” said Cullen Jones, 2012 Olympic Silver Medalist.
Nine Olympic and Paralympic athletes will speak with students across the country.
