Deloitte’s Dallas Office Receives LEED Gold Certification for Energy Efficiency
Second LEED Gold certification in North Texas in two years
DALLAS, Jan. 11, 2013 /3BL Media/ — The Dallas office of Deloitte, located at 2200 Ross Avenue, has been awarded a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification at the Gold level in the commercial interior category. The LEED rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, is the foremost program for buildings, homes and communities that are designed, constructed, maintained and operated for improved environmental and human health performance.
The Deloitte Dallas office consists of more than 133,000 square feet within a 55-story building. In earning the certification, Deloitte met a long checklist of requirements on reducing energy and water consumption and the use of sustainable materials. Drywall, aluminum frames, doors and ceiling tiles have high recycled content. The materials and furnishings also meet specific standards for compound emission levels.
New lighting systems were installed that use less energy and make the most of large windows. Sensors automatically turn off all lights at night, and the offices and conference rooms have devices that switch off the lights when the rooms are vacated during the day.
The Dallas office is Deloitte’s second LEED-certified property at the Gold level in North Texas in just two years. Deloitte University, built on 107 acres in Westlake, Texas, with a learning and leadership development facility of more than700,000 square feet, opened in October 2011 LEED Gold certified.
“Achieving LEED Gold certification demonstrates Deloitte’s commitment to improving the environment and providing healthy workplaces,” said Jason Downing, office managing partner for North Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma, Deloitte LLP. “Combined with our Deloitte University facility in Westlake, our overall footprint in North Texas is designed to be environmentally friendly. On a national level, all of our new leases since 2010 are LEED certified. It reflects our culture and what our people and clients expect.”
