David XL Green Scoops a hat-trick of awards
David XL Green, the world’s greenest draught system, recognised at the RAC Cooling Industry Awards 2014
Amsterdam, September 25, 2014 /3BL Media/ – HEINEKEN is delighted to announce that David XL Green, the world’s greenest draught system, has received further industry recognition at the prestigious RAC Cooling Industry Awards 2014. At an awards ceremony, which took place yesterday evening in London, David XL Green was named “End User of the Year – Non-Supermarket”.
The award completes a hat-trick of accolades for the David XL Green draught cooling system after it scooped the “Top Product of the Year 2014” prize at the Environmental Leader Product and Project Awards. Last year, the system topped the “Best Environmental / Sustainability Initiative of the Year” category at the Canadean International Beer Awards in Prague.
David XL Green has redefined the draught experience. Its innovative technology stores and chills the kegs directly below the draught column so that the beer stored in the keg does not have to travel far to the tapping point. Together with the energy efficient R290 fridge, this results in a 50% lower energy consumption rate compared to conventional draught systems. It also chills the complete beer line from keg to nozzle, ensuring that every beer is served at the correct temperature for the perfect pint. Disposable beer lines for each stainless steel, refillable keg guarantees longer shelf life and eliminates the risk of contamination.
Commenting on the award, Marketing Manager Global Innovation, Erik van der Aa, said: “We are delighted that David XL Green continues to excite and inspire the industry and gain recognition for its sustainability credentials. Minimising beer wastage, cutting energy consumption in half and eliminating line cleaning costs will lower annual expenditure for outlet owners quite dramatically. Aside from the vast economic benefits associated with David XL Green, the system ensures that draught beer is served consistently at the right temperature, guaranteeing the perfect pint for consumers each and every time.
“Green cooling is a central part of HEINEKEN’s sustainability strategy “Brewing a Better Future” and David XL Green is a significant step towards meeting our goal of reducing our carbon footprint on top of our commitment on fridges by 50% in 2020.”
Since its launch in the summer of 2012, David XL Green has been introduced in 25 countries in Europe, Africa & Middle East, Asia and the Americas. In total it has been installed in circa 2,500 outlets.
