Dan Probst of Jones Lang LaSalle Wins VERGE 25 Award for Leadership in Next-Gen Buildings
Energy and sustainability leader developed IntelliCommand facility monitoring and control solution and PEERS portfolio energy management system saving clients $100 million yearly
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 14, 2012 /3BL Media/ - Dan Probst, Chairman of Energy and Sustainability Services at Jones Lang LaSalle, won the first-ever VERGE 25 Award in the category of Next-Gen Buildings.
The award honors 25 leaders from business, government, and institutions who are making significant contributions toward the convergence of systems and technologies around energy, buildings, transportation, and information and communications. The 25 winners were selected by GreenBiz.com readers and editors, and were presented on Tuesday, November 13, at the VERGE San Francisco conference.
The Next-Gen Building category recognizes leadership in areas such as harnessing building automation systems and advocating for data transparency—qualities that Probst has demonstrated.
He was instrumental in the development of Jones Lang LaSalle’s IntelliCommandSMintegrated facilities management platform, which uses cloud computing and a remote command center operation to achieve 15-20 percent energy reduction across corporate portfolios while streamlining carbon data collection. Earlier this year, IntelliCommand won a Realcomm Digie award for Best Use of Automation in Facilities Management.
Probst also leads teams that use the firm’s proprietary programs to monitor measure and improve performance in energy and sustainability, and enable Jones Lang LaSalle to document annual energy savings in excess of $100 million and more than 2 million tons of carbon reduction over the past four years.
In addition, Probst has been a strong and consistent proponent of data transparency in commercial buildings. He has advocated for broad participation in ENERGY STAR and reporting on energy performance, and cited transparency as a key sustainability trend to watch this year, in an article that appeared on Greenbiz.com
Probst is a founding member of Jones Lang LaSalle's Global Environmental Sustainability Board; co-author of “Six Sigma for Sustainability,” published by McGraw-Hill Professional in 2011; and a member of the World Economic Forum working group on energy retrofit financing. He received a degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Indiana University.
