Cotton made in Africa presents its new Environmental Action Plan

(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) November 11, 2011 - The Aid by Trade Foundation's Cotton made in Africa (CmiA) initiative is pleased to present its new Environmental Action Plan, which includes key performance indicators to help increase CmiA's transparency and deliver deeper insight it its work in Africa.   With its integrated approach, the Aid by Trade Foundation is constantly working to improve the livelihoods of smallholder cotton farmers. One key aspect of CmiA is the environmental footprint of cotton production in order to maintain an environment in which also future generations will find their income in agriculture. With its stakeholders CmiA defined an Environmental Action Plan setting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in five categories: agro-chemicals, soil-fertility and erosion, water, bio-diversity and general topics.   Continuous improvement is central to CmiA’s philosophy. In order to learn from each other CmiA brought participating countries together to establish a network to exchange ideas, methods and practical applications. By publishing our Environmental Action Plan, the Aid by Trade Foundation wishes to increase CmiA's level of transparency and to deliver a deeper insight into its work in Africa.    CMIA18648
