Continuing A Commitment To Transparency
The Paper Trail Impact Estimator Adds Six Additional Domtar Products, Two Mills
Montreal, December 3, 2013 /3BL Media/ – Domtar Corporation (NYSE: UFS) (TSX: UFS) today announced the fifth update to its award-winning site, The Paper Trail since the debut of this groundbreaking tool in June 2011.
Publicly showcasing the company’s commitment to voluntary disclosure, The Paper Trail provides a look at the social and economic impacts associated with manufacturing its paper products in North America. As a tool that displays both what Domtar is doing well at its facilities, as well as what it’s working to improve upon, the Paper Trail continues to serve as a model for transparency within the industry.
The tool will now include even more papers from the environmentally and socially responsible EarthChoice® product line:
- EarthChoice Colors Opaque Text & Cover
- EarthChoice Colors Index
- EarthChoice Colors Tag
- EarthChoice Colors Vellum Bristol
- EarthChoice Colors Multipurpose
- EarthChoice HOTS
Users can also browse two more Domtar facilities – the Hawesville, Kentucky and Marlboro, South Carolina mills – learning their histories, reading about community outreach efforts and even viewing pictures of local landmarks. Striving to provide the most accurate environmental impact estimates available, the latest release of The Paper Trail also includes the updated mill metrics that drive the tool’s calculations.
“We’re pleased to make yet another addition to our industry-leading impact calculator,” said Paige Goff, Vice President of Sustainability and Business Communications. “Continuously adding products, mills and environmental data to The Paper Trail demonstrates our commitment to transparency and the progress we are making in our sustainability journey.”
The Paper Trail develops personalized reports that measure Domtar products across five categories: water usage, the distance its fiber travels to a paper mill, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, waste sent to landfills and renewable energy usage. The site also illustrates how Domtar compares to the industry in these categories. In cases where the environmental performance can be improved, Domtar voluntarily discloses this information, as well as the efforts underway to do so.
