Community: The Safeway Foundation

Safeway is so much more than a place to buy groceries. We’re part of your neighborhood, and we believe in making each of our communities a better place to live and work. Healthy people are integral to healthy neighborhoods. Because of this, The Safeway Foundation is committed to improving the quality of life in the communities we serve.

The Foundation focuses on four key areas: Health and human services, hunger relief, education, and helping people with disabilities. We help fund and create awareness of these issues through partnerships and generous contributions from our customers and employees.

Our employees actively contribute to The Safeway Foundation, directly helping us to give generous donations to many organizations. Employee contributions are managed through our Employee Foundation Giving Committees, which include employees within each of our company’s divisions. The committees award grants to nonprofit organizations with the most impact in their communities.
