Comcast NBCUniversal Named 2023 Leading Disability Employer
Comcast NBCUniversal has been named a 2023 Leading Disability Employer by the National Organization on Disability. Now in its ninth year, the NOD Leading Disability Employer Seal spotlights the businesses that promote employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities and prioritize diversity, equity, and accessibility in the workplace. Recipients are announced annually during National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), a month-long campaign to raise awareness about the importance of creating inclusive workplaces that value the skills and talents of individuals with disabilities.
Disability inclusion continues to be at the heart of how Comcast NBCUniversal creates experiences that everyone can enjoy. This distinction reflects the company’s dedication to fostering a culture of inclusion across all areas of the business. Examples include the MyAbilities Employee Resource Group, trainings to educate employees about disability inclusion, and providing American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters for employees and guests at Universal theme parks. It also represents more than a decade’s worth of work to make Comcast NBCU products, technology, services, and experiences more inclusive ─ demonstrated in breakthrough product innovations such as the Xfinity Large Button Voice Remote designed for users with mobility, dexterity, or vision impairments; the industry’s first dedicated customer support in American Sign Language; and providing live audio description on NBC primetime Olympics and all Paralympic broadcasts, along with continued expansion of NBC Universal’s Paralympic coverage.
2023 Leading Disability Employer recipients are determined based on data provided by companies on the NOD Employment Tracker™. The tracker is a free assessment tool that benchmarks organizations of any size in six disability and veterans’ inclusion focus areas, including strategy, talent outcome metrics, climate and culture, talent sourcing, people practices and workplace tools and accessibility ─ helping companies understand which employment practices correlate to improved talent outcomes related to hiring, retention and advancement of people with disabilities.
