Colorado Rocky Mountain School Board of Trustee Honored as Aspen's Volunteer of the Year

Last week, Pete Louras was honored by Aspen City Council as the city of Aspen's Volunteer of the Year.

Pete was generous in lending his considerable financial talents to the city by serving on the Citizens' Budget Task Force, where he provided clarity and insight to the board's deliberations on issues such as financing affordable housing and accounting for large, multiyear capital projects. He continued his service by working on the Financial Advisory Board, providing input on budget matters, financial policies and the Wheeler Opera House expansion pro forma development.

He also spent time working with the Aspen/Pitkin County Housing Frontiers Group, seeking specialists to help homeowners associations analyze their maintenance reserves and develop long-term capital maintenance budgets. In addition, Pete serves on the financial committee for Aspen Valley Hospital, as well as the board of directors of the Colorado Rocky Mountain School — insuring the health and future of this valley.

Pete has embraced life in Aspen and contributes to it in countless other ways, from housing music students to serving as a ski ambassador. We are honored to have a citizen such as Pete Louras in this community, and for these and many other reasons, he is our 2009 Volunteer of the Year.
