CNH Industrial Helps Improve Energy Efficiency and Urban Regeneration in Southern Italy

CNH Industrial N.V. has inaugurated two important projects in the southern Italian city of Lecce:  a new SmartFlower, in collaboration with the SUN4CITIES project, as well as playing a fundamental role in the regeneration of the Santa Rosa Park as part of the RICREA project.

SmartFlower is an innovative photovoltaic system that collects clean and renewable energy through "tracking" sunlight. This system is designed to imitate the life cycle of a sunflower: its panels open in the morning with the first sunlight, and the entire structure rotates and ouvots to follow the sun during the day and then closes in the evening, when the last light has faded. Situated at the Company’s CASE Construction Equipment plant in the city, it is the fourth SmartFlower at CNH Industrial’s sites, after those already installed in the plants of Annonay France – which makes buses and coaches, Valladolid, Spain and Suzzara, Italy, the final two plants being involved in the manufacture of commercial vehicles.

CNH Industrial has contributed to the "Recreate" urban redevelopment project focusing on the city’s Santa Rosa Park, through the installation of permanent recreational facilities, deriving from the reused wooden pallets from the Lecce plant. Given a second lease of life this is a perfect example of the circular economy – as well as involving local communities.
