Las Vegas Sands and Sands Macao host annual hygiene kit builds, an effort part of LVS's global corporate citizenship program, Sands Cares, and its ongoing partnership with Clean the World. The purpose is to support the mission of Clean the World to promote good health and well-being around the globe through improved access to soap and hygiene education.
Team Members and local communities come together to build thousands of hygiene kits to help improve the health and well-being of populations in need. Sands China's volunteer events are part of a series of hygiene kit builds at LVS' properties in Macao, Singapore, Pennsylvania and Las Vegas. Each hygiene kit includes soap collected from Clean the World's hospitality partners, including LVS properties, and then recycled through Clean the World's soap sterilization and re-manufacturing process. Other amenities in the kit include shampoo, conditioner, a toothbrush and toothpaste.
The 2015 Clean the World Hygiene Kit Build event in Macao has received the Caring Program Award, a distinction given by the Youth Committee of Macao Chamber of Commerce. The honor is bestowed to organizations with projects centered on corporate social responsibility with a strong local relevance.
The Macao event was recognized for being an environmentally friendly and sustainable occasion which demonstrated recycling and reuse of resources, as well as waste reduction, ultimately contributing to a greener Macao. Regional community groups were invited to build the kits together with Sands China Team Members which highlighted the social inclusion aspect of the build as well. Clean the World shipped the finished hygiene kits to the Philippines while continuously working with the General Union of Neighbor Association of Macau to deliver recycled soap bars to people in need throughout the local region.
"Sands China is very pleased to receive this recognition from the community," said Winnie Wong, vice president of corporate communications and community affairs for Sands China Ltd. "The company will continue developing more initiatives geared toward promoting a greener Macao, while at the same time helping more people in need."
