#GoingToBat Community Spotlight: Clay Buchholz

Clay Buchholz usually throws strikes to benefit the Red Sox, but on July 7 the two-time All-Star will try rolling them to benefit a host of children’s charities his foundation supports.

The 4th Annual Buchholz Bowl and Benefit Bash is being held to fund the Clay Buchholz Foundation, which he founded with his wife, Lindsay, in March 2013.

The Clay Buchholz Foundation was created to provide health, educational and sports opportunities to improve the lives of children in need and provides resources to support existing nonprofit organizations.

Professional athletes and entertainers will attend the celebrity bowling tournament at Lucky Strike Lanes in Boston. The evening will also consist of a reception with the chance for guests to win one-of-a-kind auction items.

Buchholz, a self-taught guitar player who has performed in numerous venues throughout his career, will cap the night with a star-studded country music “Benefit Bash” at Boston’s House of Blues.

All money raised in the events will benefit the Clay Bucholz foundation, which provides grants to various organizations. Recipients of 2015 Clay Buchholz Foundation grants include Christopher’s Havens, Melmark New England, Pitching for Kids, Binkeez, Autism Speaks and Cradles to Crayons.
