City of Rochester Hills and Recyclebank Hosted Green Schools Program Check Ceremony Event

(3BL Media) Rochester Hills - April 12, 2012 - The City of Rochester Hills announced that Brooklands Elementary School has received a grant from the Recyclebank Green Schools program, which awards schools grant money for unique student projects that will green their classrooms and communities. A representative from Recyclebank presented the school with a check to fund its green school project, an outdoor learning center. The ceremony was held at Brooklands Elementary School and included remarks by Bryan Barnett, Mayor of Rochester Hills and Angie Tobias, Recyclebank Account Manager.

What:    

Check presentation ceremony hosted by the City of Rochester Hills and Recyclebank, presenting Brooklands Elementary  School  with a check of $5,000 for their participation in the Green Schools program. The Brooklands PTA and staff plan to convert an outdated playground into an outdoor learning center. This area will feature a planting area, a composting area, an educational area with benches for outdoor lessons and experiments, a weather station to monitor weather conditions, walkways, and decorative features made from recycled items.

Schools across the country submitted green project proposals to Recyclebank in order to participate in the Green Schools program.
