The Citi Foundation Receives 2015 Best Community Improvement Program Award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation

October 7, 2015 /3BL Media/ — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Corporate Citizenship Center has named the Citi Foundation as the winner of a 2015 Corporate Citizenship Award in the category of Best Community Improvement Program for its Partners in Progress (PIP) initiative. Created by the Citi Foundation in partnership with the Low Income Investment Fund (LIIF), PIP bolsters the ability of community-based organizations around the country to increase economic progress in low-income communities.  

“We are honored to receive this recognition for our efforts to catalyze progress in cities across the U.S., and support leading community-based organizations that are creating more equitable neighborhoods”, said Brandee McHale, President of the Citi Foundation. “At the Citi Foundation, we continue to deepen our understanding of what works to better our communities and we appreciate the opportunity to share what we are learning with our colleagues across corporate philanthropy.”

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Corporate Citizenship Awards honor businesses for their significant positive impacts in communities around the world. For 16 years, this awards program has illustrated how every day businesses serve as a powerful force for good around the world. Companies and chambers of commerce from around the globe compete for the Citizens, making them one of the most coveted opportunities for recognition in corporate citizenship.

The PIP initiative builds on the concept of the “community quarterback,” which is a trusted local organization that aligns objectives, resources, and efforts among stakeholders to create strong, resilient neighborhoods and paths to economic opportunity. The model leverages the capacity of high-performing organizations to lead and coordinate across sectors to achieve shared goals.
