CITGO Launches Second Annual Fueling Education Promotion to Help Teachers and Schools
Eighty-Four Educators to Receive $1,000 in School Supplies
HOUSTON, July 14, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Helping teachers and students succeed in the classroom is the foundation of the CITGO Fueling Education Promotion, a program that offers teachers, student teachers and PTA/PTO members a chance to win $1,000 in school supplies for their classrooms. Now through October 19, 2014, eligible K-12 public school educators can visit the Fueling Good Facebook page to register. Seven winners will be randomly selected each week during the 12-week campaign to receive $1,000 in school supplies from National School Supplies.
“Education is a core philosophy for CITGO, as every investment we make in the education and wellbeing of our kids is an investment in the future of our neighborhoods and communities,” said Rafael Gomez, vice president of government and public affairs for CITGO Petroleum Corporation. “CITGO is proud to support students and teachers as part of the Fueling Education Program. Through this rewarding initiative, hundreds of young minds will benefit from enriched educational opportunities at important stages in their development.”
A total of 84 winners will be selected during the campaign, with three winners from each of the 27 states in which CITGO operates, as well as the District of Columbia. Fueling Education winners will be announced weekly starting in August and running through October. Teachers can select from more than 25,000 products for their classrooms and the supplies will be shipped directly to their schools.
“The Fueling Education Promotion is just one of the many ways that CITGO supports education across our footprint,” added Gomez. “We also provide scholarships to students in Houston and our three refinery cities: Corpus Christi, Texas; Lake Charles, La.; and Lemont, Ill. We recently launched our ‘Kindling Young Minds’ program with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in Houston and continue to work with many non-profits that promote education and literacy, including Bess the Book Bus.
